The Road to the Oscars…….who’ll walk the red carpet with the Oscar statuette
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 | Author: Joseph Thankachan

The Oscars are just a few days away, who will walk away with the prestigious 82nd Academy Awards is a simple guess more or less this time (well in most of the categories). The verdict is more or less out with the Golden Globes and the Bafta awardees set to continue their reign in the Academy Awards. The previous years was good for Hollywood; it witnessed a technology and film making revolution with Avatar, highest ever box office engrosser Avatar again, history cinematographed the Hollywood way in Inglorious Basterds, a heart rending truth and reality in the Hurt Locker and some really powerful stories like the Blind Side, which gained people’s interest in US and worldwide alike. This year the contest seems to be headed the Cameron way, Cameron and his ex-wife Kathryn are set to sweep the Oscars, and it’s going to be hard to predict beforehand who’s gonna win what. If the Golden Globes were a predictment of Oscars with Avatar sweeping the Gloden Globes the Bafta did a 360 with Hurt Locker winning the maximum. Well the technical awards are all set to be in Avatar’s pocket without any contention, the major categories which include the Best Picture and the Best Director are a bit dicey to predict with certainty. I think the Best Actress is a simple choice, it would be a calamity if Sandra doesn’t win it this time for her role in the Blind Side, Best Supporting Actress is again presumed to go to Mo’Nique for her role in Precious and the most loved act this year i.e. the role by Christoph Waltz in Inglourius Basterds on which I m ready to bet my life earnings (thts a few dollars none the less) would win the Best Supporting Actor. In a couple of days I’ll spend my time reviewing few movies in select categories which I think will walk away with the golden man this year, and if they don’t consider it as a Human error.
