The Nominees for the Actor in a Supporting Role are:
And the award goes to: Christoph Waltz
For his brilliant role of Col. Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds. What a performance!!!!! Christoph singlehandedly overshadowed the roles of a certain Brad Pitt and other some some actors in the movie. He plays the role of a cold blooded detective cum decorated officer in Hitler’s army who with an evil / innocent smile hunts down Hitlers adversaries. He’s loathesome, the way he detects or sniffs out yea sniffs out the adversaries and murders them in cold blood is admirable. Where was this man? There are 2 scenes where his brilliance is simply manifested
a) he in a conversation with a farmer at his house drinking milk hunts down the Jews hiding underground, here you witness a brilliant Christoph conversing, laughing and suddenly showing another him
b) again a normal tete-a-tete with one of the theatre actress (who apparently is his well known accomplice but an undercover agent conspiring to kill Hitler) which starts off as a congenial one turns into a cold blooded murder of the lady
I was not impressed with Matt Damon in his role in Invictus. Others I wish not to comment.
Christoph is by all means going to win the Oscar in this category, and has swept off all the other awards including the BAFTA and the Golden Globes.
